A large decorative Venetian style figural pedestal, modelled as an elaborately dressed attendant standing upon an ornate Baroque inspired base. Richly finished in deep colours, antique gold, silver and red tones, with a turban style headdress, scrolling decoration to the costume and sculpted fruit form detail above. The shaped base features elaborate acanthus scrollwork and an aged gilt finish. The upper section retains provision for a former electrical fitting, suggesting the piece may once have been configured for use as a light. It is currently presented purely as a decorative figural pedestal. The underside retains an ownership label for John Alexander Wilson F.R.S.A., York, England.
Vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, including rubbing, marks, small losses and variation to the painted, gilded and silvered finishes throughout. Further wear and losses are visible around the upper fruit-form section, as photographed.
