A handsome circa 1930s Art Deco occasional table with neoclassical influence, featuring a richly figured timber veneer top arranged in a geometric diamond matched pattern. The substantial rectangular top has clipped corners and a moulded edge, raised on bold reeded column supports with turned collars. Stepped trestle feet are joined by a long central stretcher, giving the table a strong architectural profile characteristic of the more traditional English interpretation of Art Deco design. The combination of geometric veneer work, simplified classical forms and substantial proportions gives the piece a particularly handsome interwar character. A versatile size suitable for use as an occasional, hall or centre table. Vintage condition with scratches, surface marks, small areas of veneer wear and general wear consistent with age and use.
