A beautiful vintage Louis XVI style bergère armchair, featuring an ornate gilt timber frame with carved floral and acanthus leaf detailing, fluted tapered legs and decorative rosettes. Recently reupholstered by us in a beautiful leopard jacquard fabric. The rich golden brown and black upholstery is finished with decorative antique brass style studding around the seat, backrest and armrests. The chair features a tall rectangular backrest, generously proportioned upholstered seat and gently curved arms with padded armrests. Its classical proportions and detailed carving are characteristic of the Louis XVI style. A lovely combination of traditional French inspired furniture and bold leopard upholstery, equally suited to classic, contemporary or eclectic interiors. In good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use to the timber frame, including marks, rubbing and areas of loss to the gilt finish, all adding to its character. The upholstery has been newly completed.
