A lovely vintage Indian hand carved stone elephant figure, featuring intricate openwork detailing with a smaller elephant carved inside the body of the larger elephant. Carved from pale cream coloured stone, the figure features a raised trunk, decorative floral and foliage patterns, and a smaller elephant visible through the pierced sides. A traditional Indian carving technique requiring careful work to create the figures within one another. Wear consistent with age and use, including minor surface marks and small irregularities to the carving.
