A vintage hand knotted Persian rug from the Hamadan weaving region of western Iran, with a rich red field centred by two large indigo blue medallions. Scattered floral motifs fill the field in pink, green, ivory, brown and flashes of orange, finished with a contrasting ivory floral border. Woven in wool, the rug has the bold colour and geometric floral drawing associated with the village rugs of the Hamadan region, with similarities to rugs woven around Nahavand. There is visible wear throughout from age and use, including areas of lower and worn pile, fading, marks and wear to the edges and fringed ends. Please refer to photos for condition.
