A beautifully shaped vintage French commode with a classic serpentine front and bombe sides, sitting on cabriole legs finished with decorative ormolu mounts to the feet. Richly toned with parquetry inlay across the drawer fronts and sides, framed with banding and finished with original style cast brass handles and escutcheons. The shaped apron with central mount gives it that classic French feel. A brecciated marble, likely Brèche d’Alep style, with warm ochre, brown, cream and soft pink tones. Top is nicely shaped to follow the form of the commode and rests well with the timber below. Three drawers for storage. There is some veneer wear, small losses and some patching visible, particularly along edges and drawer fronts. The marble has surface marks and light wear. Condition consistent with age.
