A vintage terracotta sculpture depicting a water buffalo carrying two figures, one seated playing a flute and the other reclining across its back. Richly modelled throughout, with incised detailing to the buffalo’s coat, expressive features and folds to the figures’ clothing. Finished in a deep reddish brown glaze, with areas of wear revealing the terracotta beneath and giving the piece plenty of character. Wear consistent with age and use, including surface marks and losses to the finish. One ear has an old break and repair, as pictured (reflected in price)
