An antique carved oak armchair dating to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1920, with strong Jacobean and Carolean Revival influence. The chair features a high upholstered back, carved scrolling arms with foliate detail, turned legs and stretchers, and an ornately carved lower back rail. Traditional brass stud detailing finishes the seat and back. Upholstered in aged mulberry velvet to the seat and front of the back, with contrasting green velvet to the reverse. The upholstery appears to be an older replacement and shows wear consistent with age and use, including rubbing, marks and flattening to the velvet pile. The oak frame has a warm aged finish with general marks, knocks and wear consistent with age and use. Sourced in Denmark and imported as part of a European container.
