An elegant French Empire Revival figural candlestand featuring a winged classical figure with butterfly wings standing upon a sphere and supporting the candle holder above. Raised on a richly cast base with lion’s paw feet and acanthus decoration, it is finished with a cut glass hurricane that beautifully catches the light. The piece retains its original internal assembly marks and traditional hollow-cast construction, consistent with late 19th to early 20th century European foundry work. The gilt bronze has developed a lovely aged patina, while the cut glass hurricane is in very good condition. A beautiful decorative piece for a console, mantel or dining table.
