A large and elegant serpentine front console table by Baker Furniture Company from their Stately Homes of England and Scotland collection. Crafted in richly figured mahogany with fine banded inlay, the table features a beautifully shaped front with three drawer façades, slender tapered legs and classic brass hardware. The sweeping serpentine form gives the piece a graceful profile while remaining substantial enough to anchor an entry hall, dining room or sitting room. The centre drawer opens via the original brass pulls and retains the Baker Furniture provenance label to the interior. The outer drawers are designed as double façade drawers, creating the appearance of two separate drawers on each side while actually forming one large deep drawer per side. The left outer drawer opens, while the right outer drawer currently appears fixed shut due to the absence of the original key. If the right side happens to contain gold bullion, I will happily accept a finder’s fee! Despite this, the piece presents beautifully and works well as a decorative console, hall table or statement piece behind a sofa.
