A small vintage Kashmiri decorative box, handmade in India and featuring intricate handpainted floral and foliate decoration in shades of blue against a warm cream background. Of oval form with a gently domed, removable lid, decorated with a central floral motif surrounded by finely detailed scrolling foliage. The traditional Kashmiri papier-mâché style reflects the region's long history of decorative craftsmanship. Retains its original 'Hand Made in Kashmir (India)' label to the underside. In vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, including surface marks, rubbing to the painted finish and losses around the rim and lid.
