A decorative pair of neoclassical French style occasional tables with shaped tops and a good mix of materials. The tops are timber with a rich burr-style veneer and brass edge detail, sitting above a pierced gallery frieze with classical floral motifs. The legs are the standout, cast in an eagle form with carved heads at the top flowing down into claw feet, giving them that strong Empire influence. Finished in a verdigris-toned metal, they contrast nicely against the warmth of the timber. The lower tier adds practicality without feeling bulky, making them ideal as side tables, lamp tables or bedsides. Slight movement through the frames, typical for age, but still solid, heavy and perfectly usable. Wear to the tops and shelves consistent with use, as shown.
