Beautifully modelled after the iconic figures of Pierrot and Columbine from the Italian Commedia dell’Arte, this elegant pair of early 20th century French cast bronze figural table lamps captures the romance and theatrical charm that made these characters a favourite subject of French decorative arts.
Each lamp features a finely cast bronze figure seated upon an elaborate Rococo-inspired base of scrolling acanthus and shell motifs, with Pierrot holding a mandolin and Columbine gracefully poised opposite. Raised on ebonised timber bases, the lamps have been professionally converted to Australian standards by a qualified electrician and are ready for use. They are fitted with contemporary black leather look shades that provide a sophisticated contrast to the warmth of the bronze.
There is age-related wear and patina to the bronze, together with light wear to the timber bases and minor marks to the shades consistent with age and use.
