An English silver plated sugar scuttle by Walker & Hall of Sheffield, dating to the early 20th century. The coal-scuttle form was traditionally used at the table for serving sugar, with the original miniature scoop tucked neatly beneath the handle. Comparable Walker & Hall sugar scuttles are dated to the early 1900s through the 1930s. Decorated with finely engraved flowers and foliage, with an ornate side handle, swing handle and raised circular foot. Marked to the base “Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England” with pattern number 1999B and plate mark 60. Complete with its matching scoop. Wear, surface marks and areas of tarnish consistent with age and use.
