An impressive pair of large Victorian engravings after the monumental works of Irish artist Daniel Maclise R.A. in the Palace of Westminster. Comprising The Death of Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar, engraved by Charles William Sharpe and marked Art-Union of London 1875, together with Wellington and Blücher Meeting After the Battle of Waterloo, engraved by Lumb Stocks R.A. and marked Art Union of London 1876. Both finely engraved with extraordinary detail and depicting two of the most celebrated scenes in British military history. Housed as a companion pair in large ebonised timber frames with red and gilt detailing and old glass. Wear, foxing, discolouration and marks consistent with age, with wear to the frames.
