An antique miniature portrait depicting an elderly lady, finely hand painted in watercolour on a thin ivory panel. The sitter is shown against a rich red ground. Set beneath glass within a gilt metal oval mount and ebonised timber frame, retaining an easel back for tabletop display as well as a brass hanging ring. An old handwritten note found tucked into the back of the frame. The original note is included with the portrait and provides a lovely piece of provenance. Wear consistent with age and use, including marks, rubbing and small losses to the ebonised finish.
