An elegant late 19th century rosewood writing bureau, dating to around 1880 and displaying strong French Louis XV Revival influence. The sloping fall front is decorated with floral marquetry and opens to reveal a fitted interior with a green tooled writing surface, three small drawers and additional storage. The three drawers are set within a removable shelf, allowing access even though the centre drawer is currently a little stiff. A concealed drawer is also incorporated into the interior. The bureau is raised on slender cabriole legs with decorative metal mounts and finished with a pierced brass gallery along the top. Comes with its key and decorative tassel. Wear consistent with age and use, including scuff marks, losses to areas of veneer, historic woodworm holes and repairs to the rear legs. One small internal drawer is missing its handle/knob, and the centre drawer is stiff to open. These age related faults and repairs are reflected in the price.
