An antique 19th century porcelain spill vase featuring a pink ground with gilt detailing and a hand painted landscape scene depicting mountains, trees and sailing boats. Of cylindrical form with a stepped circular base, the landscape is framed within a gilt beaded cartouche, with further gilt detailing to the rim and base. Traditionally used on the mantelpiece to hold spills for transferring flame from the fire to candles and lamps. Unmarked to the base aside from a hand painted ‘700’ pattern or production number. Wear consistent with age and use, including rubbing and losses to the gilt decoration. There is a crack extending from the upper rim, as pictured and reflected in the price.
