A charming antique Danish hanging cabinet dating to the 19th century, crafted from solid pine in the traditional Scandinavian Almue folk furniture style. Featuring a shaped pediment with painted “NV” monogram, panelled lockable cupboard door opening to reveal three small internal drawers, with a further curved drawer below. Retains its old key, lock fitting and iron hanging bracket to the reverse. Later hand painted decoration in deep teal and soft green, with colourful scrolling floral motifs in red, blue, ochre and green, following the traditional Scandinavian folk art manner associated with Danish Almue furniture. Constructed from solid pine throughout with a boarded back, traditional timber drawer runners and aged exposed timber. Wear consistent with age and use, including marks, rubbing and variations to the painted finish, with historic borer holes to areas of the timber. Later painted decoration and evidence of restoration over its lifetime. Please refer to photographs.
