Beautiful tall antique carved timber santos figure depicting Saint Paul. Common to the symbolism of St Paul in carvings of the time, he holds a scroll / book - symbolising his new testament gospel - and a sword; a reminder of the means of his martyrdom.
Beautiful patina. Originally, this statue was handpainted gold, but consistent with santos figures of this age, the gilt finish has worn over time. Some areas of the carving retain a reminder of this original gilt finish.
Signs of repair to halo (refer photos). In remarkable condition for age. A collectors item.
