A beautiful antique Chinese export lacquered four-panel coromandel screen featuring a courtier scene with figures, surrounded by flora and fauna featuring cranes, temple and a bridge. The carved lacquer panels are embellished with colours of natural pigments gold leaf. The panels are supported by square legs with patinated brass clad feet. The opposite side is decorated with bit’s and bamboo. The lacquer panels are heavy and solid conjoined with modern hardware. Marks consistent with age also reflected in price (see photos for more details)
