A vintage Danish butler's tray table featuring a removable papier-mâché style tray resting on a black painted timber stand with cross stretchers. The shaped tray features a scalloped raised edge, a central hand-painted floral arrangement in shades of yellow, orange, pink and green, and a decorative gilt scrolling foliate border against a black lacquer style finish. Inspired by traditional Victorian papier-mâché wares, the removable tray can be used separately or displayed on its timber stand as an occasional table. An original Copenhagen maker's or retailer's label remains affixed to the underside of the tray. Wear consistent with age and use, including surface scratches, marks and losses to the painted finish, particularly around the edges, as photographed.
