The base is formed from sweeping bentwood supports, joined by a cross stretcher with a turned central finial. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eA handsome example of the Central European bentwood tradition popular around the turn of the 20th century, with the dark timber contrasting beautifully against the pale marble. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWear consistent with age and use, including marks to the ebonised finish,  age related wear to the bentwood, and minor marks to the marble.
